Open Boulevards are back!
North Lawndale community organizations are partnering with the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT), the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), and the Chicago Park District, to present this second annual free street activation between Douglas Blvd. & Central Park Ave. and 13th St. & Independence Blvd.! The boulevard will be closed to auto traffic, and opened to biking, scootering, sauntering, dancing, running, and galavanting.
The greenway will be packed with activities, including sports, games, food, live music, roller skating, skateboarding, artmaking, and much more!
This year they are excited to pair this festival with
- Journey Chicago, via 'We Walk: A Celebration of Black Culture in North Lawndale' in collaboration with the Haitian Museum of Chicago and Crossing Borders Music
- Open House Chicago, featuring guided tours of the Historic Stone Temple Baptist Church
- The Chicago Sukkah Design Festival, which will have its closing celebration!
